IT Job Postings Drops 1.3% in November 2015, Reports ITJobsWeb.com

ITJobsWeb.com, the leading IT jobs website for IT professionals, reports a 1.3 percent decrease in the number of IT job postings to its site for the month of November 2015 compared to the previous month.

November’s reported decrease in tech job postings for the month marks a drop for the 0.10 percent increase reported in October. In September, the IT jobs website reported a 6.1 percent decrease.

The employment website’s decrease in job postings is inline with the lowered number of job gains reported by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, December 4, 2015. According to the Economic Situation Report, the IT industry gained 10,200 jobs for the month of November across several industries, compared to the 16,600 jobs gained in the month prior. In total, November’s job gains are 38.6 percent lower than October’s gains.

The data processing, hosting and related services industry reported a 0.34 percent increase last month, which translates to 1,000 new jobs. The subsector now sits at 299,600 jobs, a 4.9 percent increase over November 2014. This industry data includes computer programmers, computer support specialists, computer systems analysts, application developers, and systems software developers.

The computer and electronic product manufacturing subsector, which includes computer hardware engineers, computer software engineers (applications and systems software), electrical and electronic engineering technicians and equipment assemblers, and semiconductor processors, lost 600 jobs last month. Over the last 12 months, the subsector has remained relatively stable with a loss of only 900 jobs in a subsector of 1,053,000 employed persons.

Computer systems design and related services, a part of the professional and business services sector gained 4,800 jobs in November. Over the last 12 months, the subsector has increased by 5.4 percent or 97,700 jobs. Management and technical consulting services grew by 5,000 jobs, a 0.37 percent increase over the month prior, and a 4.08 percent increase over November 2014.

Across all industries, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 211,000 jobs while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5 percent. Over the last 12 months, employment growth has averaged 230,000 jobs per month. In November, job gains occurred in construction, professional and technical services, and health care. Mining and information lost jobs.
